Elevators here are only staying open for corn 3 to 5 hrs. a day .Long lines .Its going to be a long fall.

Was out looking at some corn in the fields here in SD. Lots of mold. Ears just bend before they break, and then the cobs are wet and moldy inside.

Talked to a guy here in SE. SD. this afternoon. His corn was running 25 %. When he tried drying it, it was like carmel corn he said. It has mold in it also.

The local elevator opened at 7:00AM and had the day's quota by 8:00 AM. I believe the wet bin holds about 20,000 bu. It appears the big boys are diverting all their morning trucks to this smaller elevator so the larger elevators where they normally dump can stay open longer. If this continues, it is also going to be a long harvest for us. Probably should consider renting a couple of trucks (if any are available) for a similar morning "run" and see if I can cause the "outsiders" a little distress.
