I am thinking of purchusing one of these models with a dsl engine . I run a hay and row crop farm need a bigger tractor. any pros and cons would be great thanks

The 1850 perkins diesel is hard to beat. Any of them are good tractors, but I would go with the 1850 diesel first.

Good luck

They are all great machines, but Shep is right, the 1850 with the Perkins is pretty bulletproof. The newer 55 series with the 310 Waukesha have a bad reputation for throwing rods but if you can find one with all the updates to the lower end and oiling system they are a great machine also.

I prefer our 1650's for haying.Perfect size and horsepower. The larger ones are great too,but not quite as nimble as the 1650.

No cons,all pros.

Don't know where you are located but I have a 1850 diesel I am thinking about selling. Bought a JD 4020 and probably won't use it much anymore.
Let me know if you are interested. I am in SE Indiana.

they are all nice tractors but there are a few variables. are you going to be round baling? running a haybine or running a discbine? The 1850 is the best out of those tractors you named. The perkins engine in it is great and they seem to last forever. The 1650 would be my next best choice. Its not that the 1750 is a bad tractor you just dont see too many around. the 1650 is much more popular so you would probably be able to find one easier.

thanks for the info. What about the direct drive and the hydraulics, I know of one that blows the seal out of the steering wheel shaft every couple years do they all have this problem
