Emptied 4 1/2 inches out of the rain gage this AM, courtesy of Hurricane Ida. Week befor last it rained on hay had cut. Last week got the washed hay baled and since we had a few days of clear weather I cut some more Tuesday. Did not dry well at all(fescue hay). Baled 3 wet bales Saturday and fed them to the cows. Monday was clear but had to take SIL to doctor's appointment so baled the still not dry hay Sunday with the intention of feeding it ASAP. Tractor and baler gave no trouble but operator error clogged up the baler with 1/4 bale to go. Finished unstopping it yesterday as it was starting to rain, baled the rest in the rain, dumped it in the pasture. Cows cleaned it up.

How is the corn harvest going int the upper midwest? Saw one large field of corn Monday that had not been harvested east of Columbia, SC.

We have had a stretch of 12 days or so without rain here in SE Iowa. We could go another 2 months without precip and not hurt a thing. Lot of grain in from the fields the past 2 weeks but alot still out there.

Gary,
Had some warm weather also, didn't You? Enjoy it while you can. Beans cut behind daughter's house, corn still there.

Got model tractor painted, have to assemble it.

Had alot of rain around Mobile, Al from Ida, and I think the pecans will be toast. We had alot of rain about a week and half ago that did alot of damage. Once the temp ran up into the 70"s they started sprouting on the ground, and in bins after harvest. Most other crops cotton and peanuts for the locals are yet to be said. They may be able to pull it off. At least the storm didnt hang around here, we didnt need it. Good luck in the Carolinas.
