alternator with external regulator

I have a MF2200 Contenental gas tractor with the regulator, I think, giving me problems.

Does anyone know if I should get 100% conductivity from the mane, large terminal to ground ? That's what I have---
and keep blowing fuses @ $1.00 each.

would appreciate information.

You probably have blown rectifier diodes. There are usually 6 in the alternator. Resistance to ground is polarity sensitive, reversing the battery will fry most of the diodes and they usually fail shorted. And automotive electrical shop can probably replace the diodes reasonably.

Pull your alternator and have it bench checked at your local repoair shop. I would take the regulator too. Hal

Before you pull the alternator use a volt meter and check the charging voltage across the battery terminals with the engine at 1/2 throttle or better. Should have around 14 volts on a 12 volt system. Hal

Sounds like someone put the battery in backwards or jumped it backwards and blew the rectifiers in the alternator.
