O/T Chev truck rear ends part 3

Well I just hauled in a 1983 Chev suburban to. No engine or tranny or glove compartment door so no easy find rear end gear ratio. So it does say that it had the 6.2 Diesel so is it more likely to have a higher or lower geared rear end. What I need is a 308 but just to get by I may have to put something else in till I find a 3,08 one.
Thanks.
Oh by the way I did a little bit of a crazy to get it home. I towed it behind my Ford 841 it had no steering in it no brakes etc. I have a long steep hill to go down so I lucked out that it didn't push me down the hill to fast.

My '84 Sub has the build card glued to the top of the left front fenderwell. Have you looked there?

(It won't list the ratio, but look for a 3-digit RPO code, most likely starting with a "G".)

(BTW, FWIW, my '84 with the 6.2 diesel has 3.73 gears.)
GM RPO axle codes

Even if the glove-compartment door WAS there with the RPO sheet, it probably wouldn't tell you the axle ratio. 1983 with 6.2 diesels and 3.08 axles are usually listed as " 1GQ1 Rear-Axle -Standard" and no ratio listed. Just about all of them with 1/2 ton, 10 bolt rears are 3.08 or 3.42.

Just jack up one wheel and count turns. It's a lot easier than pulling it all apart, losing oil, and counting teeth.

Guess I should have left the front clip on it but since it was loose I took it off to lower the front end weight some. It was all my 841 with a back blade on it wanted to left up the front of that thing and haul it home
