Long 445

I have 1978 long 445 diesel (3cylinder) Last week it ran for about 30 min at idle and died! I think the engine is locked up. I couldn"t pull it (with my truck)to turn the engine. the tractor tires just skidded. Any ideas?? or is there another brand of engine that will fit in its place without a bunch of modifications?

Make sure tractor is in high gear when pulling it off. Get the tractor rolling before letting out the clutch. Check to see if you have oil in the crankcase before doing anything! I believe it is too soon to be thinking about replacing an engine until you can determine your problem. I have had good service from a 445 since 1981. Good luck with it.

Thanks...I have oil in the engine and when i Popped the clutch while being pulled by a pickup truck, the tractor stopped the pick-up truck @ maybe 5mph???
