John Deere Toy review needed

Thinking about buying one of those battery powered cars for my grandkids (ages are just turned 5 and 2 1/2) this Christmas.
Noticed that this John Deere Gator has a 2 year warranty where the others only have 1; and it is per literature entirely built (parts and assembled) in the USA.

So does anyone have anything to say one way or the other about this product.

If I'd had one of those I'd have been fat and lazy. What ever happened to peddel cars and tractors. I had to peddle to ride my back side around the yard. Didn't hurt abit. Made for sound sleeping and energy to go again the next day.

Howdy,

My wife's brother bought one for his little boy (4 years old) and he has a blast with it. It has held up good too. God bless.

RicKS, You took the words right out of my mouth. I'm sure we just had this discussion on this site just last week about buying everything we wanted instead of being happy with the things we really need. I'm sure that there isn't any 2 and 5 year old that needs an electric car. and then john in la suggests that we purchase yet another item made in china from walmart. some residents of this country are spoiled and have way to much money to spend on unnecessary items but cry if they have to spend 3 dollars for a gallon of gas .

My sisters kids have one. They got it used from a church sale and it has taken some pretty good punishment. They'll fill the bed up from the pea gravel pile they have over there and run it like a real gator til the batteries die. To be honest I don't know how in the world it still works. Very surprising considering all their other toys are junk. Only real problem is the kids have a hard time listening to anyone when they're on it. Lots of tantrums, but thats kids i guess.

My 6 year old daughter has one at her Grandparents house and she and her little cousin love it. We recently bought her a gas 4 wheeler and with the experience she got driving the electric ones she has taken right to the gas powered one. True the others mention the lack of exercise with the electric cars and that is a valid point but when they can move on up to a 'real' one then the exercise begins.

Hey John,
I don't know anything about that toy but it makes me think about the peddle tractor I bought for my son when he was two years old. When I was growing up I remember two times that we went to some one else's house that had peddle tractors. I thought that was the greatest thing in the world. When our son was born I knew he had to have one and I did wait till he was two. He could not even reach the peddles and never played with it much even when he was older. I never had bicycle either but my younger brother did. Every once and a while we would walk it about a mile and a half to the nearest paved road to ride it. I guess it doesn't matter though when I was about 9 I could reach the clutch on dads 850 and didn't have time to worry about things I didn't have any more.

It teaches the little one's how to drive.

With all the pavement in town and on the farms nowadays, it would be easier for the pedal cars and tractors to to be played with.

I've heard story's of a 10 year girl driving the 4wd tractor and chisel plow down a paved road.

There seems to be a alot more teenages that don't have vehicles or even a driver license.

My Grandsons have a little jeep, but they can't drive it a foot until they are buckled in with their helmets on.

When i was younger i had one, It was the first one made, the day before they recalled the model for catching on fire, guess what happened to mine lol, Overall they are good safe fun, Even if one of the kids were to fall off and get run over, i dont see any serious injury occuring, unless you ran over their head or something.

They are pretty light and dont apply much weight to each tire so it seems pretty safe and most have seatbelts, and to top it off they dont go to fast, but enough for a kid to have fun

Go for it, they will enjoy it
