Read post from Paradise Farms response to Dave 2
on truck purchase. Mentioned that his Dodge had a DELAY Inguagement , We had the same problem when we rebuilt our dodge transmission. Had to wait till the pressure came on line before the transmission would enguage. Found the solution from SONNAX Bought a kit from them and installed it . NO MORE WAITING for transmission to move the truck. LOOK on www.sonax.com. Some transmission shops carry a Check valve that goes in line at the transmissoin cooler,that works, or so they said. went with SONAX and in a short time(matter of 2 hrs) we installed the new spring, Ball, valve, NO MORE PROBLEMS. Here is write up from SONAX. "SONAX has developed a lube-regulated PR valve #22771A-O2K that allows
oil to flow into the converter charge circuit as soon as the engine is started. Once there is enough line pressure build upand the PR valve starts to feed the converter/cooler circuit,the internal valve is shut down and the unit operates as it would normally. When the unit is shut off,the internal check valve does not allow fluid to DRAIN BACK out of through the orifice,
reducing converter drainback . IT WORKD FOR US>

Don't you just LOVE re-working stuff on a $40,000 vehicle the factory was to stupid (careless) to get right in the first place!
 
I worded in the transmission department at Jasper Engines and Transmissions, where we "remanufactured" transmissions. I was on the line that did the Ford E4OD/4R100 trannies, and we used several SONAX products of that nature, rather than the Ford product, in our valve bodies.

Chrysler probably let the oil drain and cause the delay for a reason. Ever notice the people who start a machine then immediately yank it into gear and blast off. They have been loading the engine before it has had a chance to even build lube oil pressure.
If you started the truck and waited for the oil pressure to reach normal and check the gauges, THEN pulled it into gear. You would not experience a delay.
What is the great hurry anyways?

Most folks select drive gear and expect the truck to move. Ours does after installing the valve. Don't worry about converter being dry so to speak. Can bet you never heard of Sonax!

Why on earth would it so important to somebody to peel out the driveway, 1.27 seconds after the engine starts?
Is it not important for the engine to build oil pressure before loading it?

buckand deer From your post First of all I have no interest in SONAX ,but did use their product. Un like your reply ,my only intention was to give information to those who posted their problem. Furthermore,fyi, I am entitled to spelling errors at age 74+ and school has been long ago in my past.
Chastising others is not my main purpose in life.As far as racing out the driveway with a cold engine ,most people have the engine heater pluged in before starting the vehicle thus elimitating a dry condition in the engine- Transmission. I can suggest to you, Be more helpfull in your post.

Thanks Tim, I was aware of the internet browser,but felt it more important to help a fellow human being with a transmission problem.I can understand every post,(mispelled words and all) with out dificulty. I would NEVER Critize nor have the audacity to critique ones efforts. I do understand some people just can't wait to read and pick apart posters responses for correctness and mis spelled wording. I am not one of those people.

I suggest you be technically accurate before looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
How does having a block heater eliminate an engine's dry start? It's not a pre-lube pump.
By the time the engine is started, you fasten the seat belt, look at the gauges and look about before pulling out. The transmission will have had plenty of time to prime.
Why purchase the overpriced slowaxe check valve when such check valves are a cheap over the counter item?
