farmall 400

i run across a farmall 400 that is stuck, has one rear wheel rusted out, and has had the front end welded. the guy said make an offer. what do you guys think this tractor is worth?

Is the front end narrow or wide and where is it welded?

Does it have a fast hitch or Torque Amplifier?

What condition are the tires?

Don

Max would be 600 if the tires are good. Scrap price otherwise. (not that it needs scrapped, but there may be 4000$ of work to get it right. JimN

wide front end that is welded on both sides of the pivot pin. tires in back arnt bad but front arnt origanal. 3 are holding air at this moment but the 4th is flat due to the rusted out rim. it has a TA and some kind of funny looking hitch on the back. the sheet metal isnt bad but the grill is dented in numerious places. the guy rigged a 20 ton jack on the front piston 4 years ago. it is still sitting the same way in the side of the field now. he said it had a mojor rebuild, was run for 50 hours, then locked up due to no rain cap

The wide front on the 400 that we have is welded also.

The rear rim will cost 2-300 dollars. Another 150 dollars to have the tube replace and the old tire put on the new rim.

The Fast hitch looks like a 3 point thats has a metal bar with holes connecting between 2 arms.

Like Janicholson suggested, asked for scrapped price in your area. If the motor is beyond repair, you can still get your money back.

If the owner rejects your offer, go to some actions. Wiemans Auction has action results that shows some running 400s going for less than $2k
