Am having trouble with a 1660 IH, The unload auger doesnt want to return to it's resting position after unloading. Not sure what all 1660's are like but this one has the little lever just behind the steering wheel. Extends out just fine, but doesnt want to return when you pull the lever down. Did it once in a while last year, but today it just doesnt want to go back. Any idea's?

dave i am not sure on the IH combine but when i worked for deere the 9500 or 9600 has a small orvice in the line where they hooked onto the extend cly, some time a small chunck of trash would plug them up might go one way but not the other, i would check there to start with, it is to slow them down so they dont travel as fast found one of them in a folding wheel rake this year also that was pluged.

If it's the same as the 2388 there's a limit switch just under the turret that shuts off the hydraulics to the swing cylinder when the auger is fully out. This switch can stick in the off position when you start to swing the auger back. I think you can reach it from the cab platform. Jim

On 1400 series ih combines, it is important to keep the turret well greased and often. When I experience slow or difficult unloader retraction, Grease has solved my problem. I always try to grease at multiple positions of the unloading turret.

On my 1660 there"s a limit switch on the saddle back there by the engine. There might be one by the turret, but the one on the saddle was the one that caused me problems. Just wiggled it back and forth for a while and its worked ever since.
