Toro Golf Tractor

Got a line on a early Toro taractor. Has Toro on the hubs and grille guard, Had a Ford "B" block in it (just the block) that the guy wants to keep. The tranny, gear reduction, rear end are there. Basically a rolling chassis with the radiator, gas tank, hood and steering column. Just wondering if there were any other motors that would bolt to that tranny or do I need to find a "B" motor? Or any ideas? Thought it would make a neat parade vehicle if it was done. Another project! Thanks!

It probably did, there's just a post mount seat and no box now. I can see when the hinge points and latch point for the box were. It has a spring loaded rear hitch and a massive open rear end with a driveshaft drum type brake.

Finding a Ford Model B block will be EXPENSIVE, if you want one that runs, or can be made to run! There is a place in New Springfield, Ohio, name of: "Ford Country", that sells all kinds of old Ford parts, but they aren't cheap!
you might find some info there to help your search.
The old Ford engines are not readily available any more! 50 years ago, i would see the cars sitting out behind barns and sheds, and they could be bought cheaply, but not any more!
If your machine is a Worthington, they used the Ford ton and a half rear ends, trannys, and the 4 cylinder engines, although i have seen some conversions to other engines, etc.

If it's from the 50's, they used surplus WW II 6 cyl. Ford ind. engines. The straight tractors without a dump box were called the Toro Bullit and the dump box models were called the Toro General. My dad sold the last Bullit made in 1959. They would cruise about 40 mph in 4th gear. Dave

I used to drive one of those back in the mid 1970s. The place I worked had two of them. The engine in one died, so they cut it in half and turned the back half into a dump trailer. I remember we had to be real easy on the shift as it liked to break pins or keys. Thing was able to go way too fast!
