Distributor drive hydraulic pump

Does anyone know much about them? I'd like to know what their capabilities are and how bad they are for the timing gears on the tractor. Also, who made them and are they still available?

The pic of a pump on an Allis WC, is from an old ebay auction. Thanks for the help.

I tend to agree with JMS. Judging from the size of the pump and hydraulic lines it's for a Charlynn or possibly Behlen add-on power steering.

Farmalls had a pump that mounted between distributor and timing cover...they worked ok for lifting implements but would be slower than anything for use on a loader...i dont recall any unusal wear on timing gears.

I believe the Farmalls with those pumps had different timing gears than the McCormick equivalents without those pumps. Stronger materials, etc.

It's too long ago to remember much about it, but we had a pump on a John Deere G which went between the magneto and its mount. It was used for a loader, but wasn't very fast. It was still better than PTO pump without live PTO.

Busted the time gear out of a m farmall with one of these. Replaced the gear with one out of a super m. Six years ago no issue's. "supers had a stronger gear"

Thanks for the replies.

The tractor I have in mind is a Case D. It doesn't have hydraulics and I want to attach a forklift to the back end. A pump like the one above would be simple to install. But it sounds like the a crankshaft pump would still be the best choice, even though it'll be more work to install.
