Pump house wrapping-is house wrap recommended?

HI All, I have to rebuild my pump house and was wondering if tyvek or similar was recommended for use on the outside? What type of insulation is used on the inside and with or without a vapor barrier on the inside? I have an idea as to the answers but want to hear what others have done that's worked or what I need to steer clear of that falls under the heading of "old wives tales". Thanks! ...Randy

Not an expert, but I would think house wrap on the outside would be ok since it breathes. Also a vapor barrier on the inside and I would use styrofoam or poly insulation.

I used poly on the inside of mine, not for any moisture problem, but to cut out any breeze or draft.

House wrap or felt paper would be advisable for the longevity of the materials it covers. When installed right, it makes for a good rainscreen too, channeling driven water back to the outside.
As for the vapor barrier, make sure it is on the warm side of the structure (usually the inside unless you're in the deep south).
Installed properly, a foam insulation can also serve as your vapor barrier. So be careful not to double the barrier where you have a temperature change across the material as you may get condensation between the vapor barriers.
And lastly... there's been some debate in the past few years about poly vapor barriers in walls as they do not breath - many preferring the kraft papaer faced insulation.
The basic theory is plan for water or condensation and tell it how to get out.
Good luck.
