1476 bolens motor

I have a 1476 bolens that I have rebuilt and worked great but the last time I ran it it started to knock and by the time I got to the key it stopped . After taking the motor out and the side cover off I found that the govener came apart and tore the teeth off of the cam and crank gears and broke the side cover at the cam bearing . I am trying to find another 14 hp wisconson but am not having any luck . Anyone know where I might find one ? If not I will have to get rid of it wioth out a motor it has a plow , snow blower and a full cab that is in great shape.

Contact small engine warehouse at 1-800-321-6725 to see if they have a replacement engine. You'll probably need the engine model & spec number off the old engine. Hal

I have a 1476 with a running engine and bad hydro.

I have a bolens just like you do. I have worked the devel right out of it and it still keeps going. I have had the original bored .030 thousands but it did not take the oval out of it so I had it reseleved back to the original diameter. Mine originally came with the mower, front blade, snow blower, rotor tiller, and cultivator. At one time I used it to break up one acre of quack grass sod. Maybe that why the engine needed to be rebored???? Now it has a life of leisure, my wife uses it just for tilling the garden. I haven't had the chains or weights off of it for the last 15 years. Great machine. Bud
