Popping beans question

What are the right conditions for soybeans to pop open their pods? Everyone seems to be fretting about it..

CWL is right and that thought has been in the middle of my mind moving foward fast.

I have 80 acres of 240 done. Haven't turned a wheel on corn yet.

UGH this is gonna be a long fall. Just hope I am done by Jan 15 coz I am going east that date.

Some varieties seem more prone to it than others, but seems worse w/ multiple wettings and drying that stress the pods.

Hard to describe, but I did see it once back in aught-six or so. I remember it because I had a pie that day, too. I think it was round. Had to set it on a windowsill on the north side of the house, 'cause it wouldn't cool on the south side.

Variety is about 90% of the problem. Anybody remember the Mitchels from the late 1970's

Yielded like heck, then came a fall when they couldn't be harvested at the exact right day. Sounded like popcorn in the fields.

Same thing going on right now with RiceTech rice.

It shatters something terrible. But the yields make it worth the gamble.

yeah I may get to try out my rear wheel assist this year. Put it on two years ago when we had a year like this and haven't used it yet.
