Dicks Sporting Goods had a 700 camoed with scope on sale last weekend for $449. Is that a buy ?

Are you sure it's a 700? Local gun shop has 12 700's used on their web site now and the cheapest one is $379 with all the others over $450. Do you know which letters are after 700? Used to be you had ADL and BDL's and that was it, now they have so many I can't keep up with them. Like B&D said what kinda scope it had would have some to do with it but I would say it's a pretty good deal as long as it's a 700. Look real close and make sure they didn't have a typo and list a 770 as a 700. Never heard any thing good about the 770.

Remington? Not a bad deal. The cheapest MSRP on them is like $700, and goes up into a couple grand. Largely depends which option package you were looking at...

Look real close at the small print. They are good about listing guns as off original but that doesn't mean the price is lower than before. I bet its the same ad I have in front of me now. Very small print at bottom, original $649.99 now $599.99. I just about refuse to buy a gun from them. A buddy tried to have them order one and had to pay all in advance. They couldn't get the gun and then refused to give refund. They made him take store credit instead. Maybe that is just local store though.

Its a great buy for a 700 (especially with a bull barrel) but if you do like I did and rush off to the store to buy a .308 you learn the price is good for in stock units only, and the ONE they had was sold a few minutes after they opened. They wouldn't "sub" a black synthetic stock 700 in its place.

my guess is its a 710 that can be bought anywhere for 350 or so; made to compete with savage but does not compare.

I've told the story of the name a time or two..........too long to post again. Had to do with an Army supply sergeant, a missing weapon, a fictious soldier, duty rosters, etc.

Dicks had a Mossberg rifle with a 3x9 scope, wood stock for 300 bucks.My 15 buck Enfield still gets the crows at 200 yards with open sights.

I don"t know...I won a 710 in .30-06, and that damn thing will put 3 shots in with 2 holes its a real good gun, but the action could be smoother
