Im going to plant a new corn field next year. Im going to no-till it. Its about 10 -15 acres. And was wondering what is the best chemical I should spray on the field to kill the weeds/grass? I read on another forum on here that 2-4D was a good one? Whats yalls opinion?

round-up and 2-4d are good but only if ur plantin rr corn We use atrazine with our burn down plan for corn. Ive seen better results with atrazine burn down especially if you burn it down and then it rains and rains some more and it doesnt get planted when you wanted it to.

You mean spray now, spray in early spring before you seed, or spray the corn with after it comes up?

Now: 24d or dicomba (Banvel, other brand names) is good at killing boradleaves. Works best sprayed on the plant; will help to keep some from sprouting a little bit.

Glysophate (Roundup, others are just as good & 1/2 price) is real good on grasses and perannual weeds (like Canadian thistle). If you got thistle & other nasty perannuals, use a lot & hit it twice, now & in the spring. Only works on green growing plants, no effect on seed in the ground.

There are some good anti-grass products you can put down before you plant in spring, lasts for several weeks to keep grasses from sprouting.

Or use roundup ready corn & spray 2x with that while the corn is growing, will do good.

Not sure what direction your question is coming from. :)

Roundup & 24D now would be a real, real good start. Do it again in spring after things green up, and should have things under control.
