Differrences in types of plow shares

I have pondered why would a person choose a full cut share vs. a narrow cut share in the context of moldboard plow bottoms? Would the narrow cut not draft a bit easier, especially on a single bottom plow?

Only time you need a full cut share is when you are plowing alfalfa as it cuts the full 16 inches of the plow width or 18 or what ever you have. It is important so you cut all the alf roots.
