O.T. Question About Illinois Unemployment Benefits

Can a person collect unemployment benefits in Illinois if they quit their job due to stress or other job related hardship?

If a man and woman get married in West Virginia move to Ohio and get a divorce, are they still legally brother and sister?

Figured I'd slip that one in there and see if it'd get an answer

Might get one of them crackpot (I mean cracker jack) lawyers and be set for life........

I doubt it, John.

I know of no state where one can collect unemployment benefits after voluntarily leaving (quitting) a job.

Thats a claim for disability, or civil action under labor laws if the working conditions violate labor standards. Unemployment is generally for involuntary seperation.

I use to give advice based on past experience, then I moved to a different state and kids in other states, so a person's past experience or common sense doesn't work in every state. So look up your state online and call your unemployentment office.

I asked a person at the Unemployment Office one time about drawing unemployment if you get fired and he told me that it depended on " why " you got fired. That was here in Kentucky , though , probably different from state to state on the local law scene , but the Federal law scene would be the same everywhere . You have to file a complaint or whatever to get it and then argue with your company who might protest it and the Unemployment Office who makes the final decision. After that you have to go to court ,etc. Well, you get the picture. Be fore warned ,though , their not going to let you have it if they can help it . The more they can keep, the more for them in the U.E. accounts. I've been there before and I know others who have been there ,too. I also know where you're comming from . My last job was emotionally and mentally stressful, also. If you have a family emergency then you may ( if you have been there long enough )qualify for F.M.L.A. ( Family Medical Leave Act ) But you have to apply for it and show reasons why you need it and get approved . This can last up to a certain time length, then you have to reapply. Do a search for it.

Once upon a time---lol
used to be and may still be that if you quit you have to show just cause. Say you work for the guy with a ten mile drive and he tells you to start work 50 miles away with no compensation.
Lots of "ifs and maybes" in any gov-ment job.

i think you can. i did about 30 years ago i quit job i had to take another one. job no. 2 didn't work out then i learned i was able to collect unemployment after 6 weeks. i didn't collect long as i got 2 jobs would milk cows 2 times a day and work for another farmer between milkings i was a pooped puppy when bed time came.
