Doesn't overheat just loses power and quits. Normally I can drive it all day if it's cool outside. Last night it died after 10 miles, I noticed it was only 160-170 on temp gauge. hmmm
Replace thermostat orrr any thoughts on heat sensor or ??? Great pickup with 175,000 miles
thanks GM experts

does it start up right away.do you have to crank it alot for it to start,
do you have spark.my first thought would be that your fuel pump is going out.if it doesnt start right away at the first start of the day.or if the truck has been run alot with low fuel, then i would suspect the pump

check crank position sensor. they get cracked, and cracks then expand when warmed up. just a guess. happened to me before on a 3.1 cavalier.

have to agree with Ron. I fought with mine for more than a year. It would just loose power and die. Call the tow truck, and of course by the time he got there it had cooled down and would allways start.
Turned out to be the crank position sensor was cracked.

Other than that it was an excelent car, had 200k+ on it before it finnaly gave out.

always starts easy, it's a 2000 model, I don't have diagnostic computer but parts store is close

I also agree with Ron, my 95 Corolla would die, take it to shop, nothing wrong.

Stumbled across solution on another board, can't tell you which. It took you thru a step by step checklist, all of which had been done but the sensor.

Replaced sensor, end of problem. DOUG

thanks guys, crank sensor is $60, will replace sensor and thermostat tonight. I've replaced fuel pump a while back so we shall see.

What about codes? Pull plug and test spark when hot. Some Chryslers ignition module would act like that. Long time back though.

Well I replaced crank sensor and thermostat and after warm up--- Darn truck will not restart---about 95 outside today so same problem-- won't run on a hot day...
