i have a piece of proofmeter cable (broken about 3/8") stuck in the governor, so i can't replace the cable. anybody got a trick to remove without disassembly of gov? none sticking out to grab.

Try screwing a small sheet metal screw into the broken piece. Just enough to catch hold of it so you can pull on it. Too much will make it worse!

pointy tweezers from the wifes makeup drawer?

toothpick with a lil superglue on the end?

a couple paperclips opened up to use s fine tools?

oring picks with pointy ends?

uncle ernie, the piece is part of the inside core, only about 1/16 dia.but the toothpick/superglue should work. gonna try this weekend thks soundguy

you mite luck out with superglue trick but be sure and spray some brake cleaner in there to get rid of residual grease/oil before you try.

can't tell you how many small things I've dropped into small places and had to use chewing gum on a stick.. or masking tape on a screwdriver.. or glue on a stick to pickup.. vs taking alot of something apart.. :)

Tim, how about breaking a coping saw blade, so the teeth go all the way to the end. Drive it in carefully beside the piece you want to remove, with the teeth positioned so they will bite in when you try to pull it back out. Usually only need to drive it two or three teeth deep to get a bite.

I've removed keys that were broken off in door locks using this trick.
