This may be our last chance? Maybe not?

With the recent weather delaying harvest across the country grain markets have jumped.

This may be your chance and mine to get a little more out of what we produce.

I think I will sell some more grain just before we see a break in the weather. When harvest hits full swing we will see a downtrend in the prices.

Corn is 3.80 and beans are 9.90 Chicago price.

There is a .07 positive corn bases at ADM in Cedar Rapids right now. Beans are about even at the processors.

They need corn. None coming in.

Time to sell you think?

Gary

Cash beans went up to around $10.10 here yesterday afternoon. It's not every year you see an Oct. rally. If today's prices are over COP then it would be a good time to pull the trigger. I do think that there will be a big jump in price some time this winter unless somthing out goes haywire some where else and drags grains down with it. I just don't think the USDA's numbers are going to be found. Yes rain makes grain, but there is alot of corn sprouting on the cob here and I can see IL from the top of my neigbors grain bins. Just cause the crop is made, don't mean it will ever make it to town and if it does, they might send it back home.

It"s Beans today, Randolph, it could be pork bellies tomorrow!

Hehe..your post made me think of Don Ameche as Mortimer Duke........"sell, sell!"

Gary i just got back from a cruise to the Bahamas and talked with a Pioneer rep that used to be in this area and now is down in the Ala-Kan area and says there is damaged corn there. Also heard from a friend north of Springfield,Ill he says there is damaged corn there also. Told of a neighbor who only netted 80 cents a bu. We need sunshine and warm but dont sound like any is coming in the long term.

Gary, You think your market is weird you ought to get a load of this crazy organic market. Food grade soys 19 to 23 a bushel, feed grade 16 to 19 depending on when you call, and no one wants to write a contract. I think they are more afraid of this harvest than we are!

I wish that .07 over was here. Must be too much coming in around here. Our corn is .07 under and beans are .20 under. We did beans until 9:30 last night, couldn't believe it, but the 2188 just kept cutting. I got the prize at the elevator yesterday morning when I hauled in 19.6% corn, it was the driest they got in two days! We had a few fields planted early, but my next one is 25% and it's raining today. You're right, I'm ready to sell some. I think the prices will be back to the basement shortly. Hope not.

Highest I could fing doe nov corn today was $3.49 - Savage MN. N/C at GNP was $3.22. I am trying to see what trucking cost would be. If it"s $.25 a bushel I guess I wouldnt be making all that much more. Does any one know what the premium is right now for non GMO corn? I think I am gonna get ready to roll (as my corn should be less that 20%) as soon as this weather breaks up a bit. Have two friends I need to help make silage but I guess if my corn is ready to go I should knock it out before everyones combines are hitting the corn.

I think so and sold some more. Sold half in early June at the anticipated yield, and sold most of the remainder. Probably will hold and speculate with the last 10%.

Gary,
Your'e kinda lucky you have started harvest. Around central Illinois, some corn is out but not many beans. Frost last Saturday made some of the crops look pretty sad!
Might be a late fall rally in there somwhere.

Jim

I think we need to be looking at pricing a portion of next year's crop also. Unless the greenback continues to depriciate, current '10 prices might be near the highs. mind you, there is nothing to indicate the U.S.$ is done sliding!!
