Heater fan motor

Illinois

New User

Inherited a 1994 Oldsmobile 98 Regency that has 28,000 miles when my Dad died last March at 91 years of age.

Today, when I drove the car to my son"s residence, when I shut it off the heater fan continued to run.

Nothing I could do would make it shut off.

It has the four season totally automatic heater/air conditioner system that you can set and forget all year long.

It worked fine this summer and this fall, switching between air conditioning and heat.

All I did today with it was unhook the battery for a few minutes thinking it would cause a computer somewhere to reset.

It didn"t.

I unplugged the wiring harness from the motor to stop it.

This evening now, I just went out and reconnected the wires and the fan started right up, the car keys were still in my pocket.

This is a new one for me, I have no idea what the problem is.

Anyone here have any experience with this?

I recently replaced thefan motor on my wife's S-10 blazer which had a multiple speed variable fan.

Wiring harness on old fan had two conductors. New fan motor had different connection, with a ground lug as well. When I grounded that lug, motor bahaved as you described. On under all circumstances. Removed lug connection, and worked normally. Don't know if this helps, but look for some reason frame of motor is grounded, where not supposed to be.

you have a bad modle it is under the hood in the heat duck you will have two plugs one with one wire the other has 3 i think i have a 1992 olds delt 88 did the same thing my just stuck one day i unpug it for a few days and did the same so i had to replace it

You have a bad blower relay . Modules rarley cause blower to stay on . Relay is the only thing with a contact that can arc and stay on . Well,,possible shorted wire to power ,,but relay is most likely
