O/T Chevy Tahoe problem

My Mom"s Tahoe left her stranded the other day.
The only part that would work was the check engine light and the power seat. So I tryed my jumper pack and nothing changed, so I used my jumper cables and still no change in the vehicule. Battery had 12.75 volts and when you turn the ignition key to ON or even start the voltage would not change.
After about 30 minutes, I went back to try to start it and it fired (started) right up.
Took it to the Chevy dealership and after two days, they can not find anything wrong with it.
I did not give the long version of this story.
Any suggestion on what might be wrong.
It is a 2007 28,937 miles on it and out of warranty.
I told her to buy a Toyota, but Moms know better.

Some vehicles have a security system that will do just what you described, on them your supposed to insert key and give it a second to recognize it then start it, on some of these if you just stick the key and turn it too quick it will not start, but after a half hour or so of setting they will then start.

If it's not acting up, it's going to be tough for anyone to fix it. I have seen instances where the PCM B fuse in the underhood fuse box is open and is usually caused by a fuel pump starting to fail. I have seen fuse boxes with poor terminal contact cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. Take a new fuse, remove 1 tab from it, and check the terminal tension on the PCM B fuse. Compare against several others for reference. You also might put a different fuse of the same rating in. If the anti theft is preventing it from starting, there will be a DTC. Beyond that, if there are no DTC's in the PCM or BCM, you're going to have to wait until it acts up before any accurate diagnosis can be done.

Why is it out of warranty?

The mil and power seats are powered without the ignition switch. The ignition switch isn't built very robust but it does power everything else up through a power relay to take some of the load out of the switch.

Did you connect the jumper cables at the battery or at the jumper terminal? The jumper terminal nut can be loose.

My Mom bought it in August of 2006.
I tryed jumping starting the Tahoe in both places.
The ON-Star was useless too, when all that happend.
Thanks for all the replies.

Had an ignition module do that once on an Olds 88. When you were in a situation that would build up heat under the hood, like waiting in line at a drive up bank, the module would quit.

Then after it cooled off for a half hour, it would be fine. I proved it one time by immediately jumping out of the car and holding a handful of snow under the module. Within a minute, it fired right up.

Someone else mentioned the ignition switch. That's a good possibility.
