Ferrellgas Getting Some Heat

I wonder how they stay in business. I had Ferrell Gas for 1 year. They lured me in with low prices at first and after the first year if I couldn't afford to pay cash for a year's supply, the price quadrupled. I shopped around and went with Amerigas. I called Ferrellgas several times to come get their tank. It was not until after their tank had been setting unused for nearly a year that I told them I was putting an ad in the paper and was going to sell it that they came and got it.

I as well was very dissatisfied with ferrell gas. It was an established company in our area of mi when I was young. But as I have gotten older there has been more compitition around and it didnt take long for them to show their true colors. As another said, they would offer contracts and if you werent paying attention the dates that they ended werent what you were TOLD they were to end on. Then when you got the bill it was higher and you were stuck. Most people in our area of MI have switched to Holton Gas out of the big rapids area. They are an honorable company. I have had them show up at my home at 700 at night on the last day of my contract to get me topped off for the summer at my lower contract price when they could have waited one day and hosed me with the higher price. That ment something to me.Most ferrell gas tanks in our area are also sitting unused as they wont pick them up unless threatened with other disposal methods.

I'm on the board of our local coop. We were trying to buy the business of a private owned LP business. Ferrellgas got it bought in 2005.

At that time the business owned 3300 tanks in the area. We owned 1800.

They had 4 5000 gal delivery trucks. We had 1 5000 and 1 3000. That was 4 years ago.

We now have 3 5000 gal trucks they have 2.

Ferrell would never sell the tanks to us so we could inspect them and leave them in place. But they would sell to the customer and we bought them from the customer. We have bought about 500 tanks this way.

We own 3100 tanks they have 1800.

Guess you could say we bought the private company 1 tank at a time.

Best thing that ever happened to us is when Ferrell bought the other company.

It saved us millions by not buying the company but we still got the customers.

Ferrell gas suc*s big time.

I dropped them in 2007, I was tired of the extra fees.

The top yo-yos at Ferrell dont understand that homeowners have choices and dont have to put up with the games.

Hopefully Ferrell will realize that they are hated by many, with the fines from the MN state att. general.

You should see the Ferrelgas place here in town - they are swamped with all of the tanks that people have made them come and get off their property. Across the street the local co-op that also sells LP-gas is hauling out new tanks as fast as they can.

I own my tank and shop around for the best price. Gas was as low as .99 this summer. I missed that but Ferrelgas filled me for 1.19 which was the lowest around. Last year, after getting a fill at 1.49, they filled my neighbor for 1.19. I called and complained since they say they will meet anyone elses price (in this case their own!) and they rebilled me at the lower price.

I have no dog in this fight, just putting this out for discussion.

Also,I did not lock in at the 1.49 offered by a couple of suppliers (including FG). I think the forcasted drop in prices will occur depending on the winter temps. What about the rest of you?

All I can say is "good". I've never been a customer of theirs, but based on the horror stories here they must be rotten to the core.
