I posted this on the implement board too, but thought the guys on here could help me out also.
I'm considering buying a John Deere 660 manure spreader. It is a tandem axle with a hydraulic endgate and a hydraulic speed control apron chain. Spreader is in good shape mechanically, and fair shape cosmetically. (several of the shields are rusted out) Floor is good, and the sides are really good and solid yet. I want something that will stand up to use of hauling manure away from a cattle yard where I feed my beef cows all winter. Been using a 519 New Holland, but for some reason the whole apron drive gearbox blew apart yesterday, and the cost of a replacement is simply not worth putting into this machine, so time to find a different one so I can get the yard cleaned out before winter. (And it's snowing today, so my time is limited!)
Anyway, if you have any opinions on John Deere spreaders, I'd really appreciate hearing them. Have to let the fellow that has it know on Monday if I want to buy it. Price is $1900.
