narrow to wide front H

would it be easier to change wide front on farmall H complete to top of steering or unbuckle it from under frame, the whole thing looks to me the way to go then you arn"t working under a proped up tractor.

It would be less work to just remove the pedestal. Either way you have to block up the tractor. I can see no good reason to change from a narrow to a wide but to each his own. I grew up on tricycles and have learned to appreciate them.

By the time you drain all the coolant, remove the radiator, and loosen up ALL the bolts that hold the frame rails to allow the bolster to slip out, it would be much quicker and easier to do that swap in the conventional manner. Either way you do it will require blocking it up and you still need to be UNDER the tractor.

In the first place, there is absolutely no reason to be 'under' the tractor.

Jack 'er up and yank the thing out.

AIN'T YOU HEARD???? Them tricycle tractors is dangerus; I read it hear, so it must bee wright. :>)

I'd feel a lot better if you had a couple of cinder blocks and a few bricks under that thing; next thing I see, you'll be hauling it with no tie-downs............

How about blocking those rear wheels,or if outside like this one,dig a couple of holes for wheels to set in,even if brakes are locked and in gear.and better blocking under front end.Jacks are prone to falling over with a little movement.Better safe than sorry.?

I switched one of my H's to a wide front and it isn't as rough as a ride in the fields. Before both front tires would hit a bump. Also it makes it easier when cutting and raking hay. Narrow front packs the hay down and takes longer to dry and is harder to pick-up. Only draw back is the turning radius is a bit bigger.

I changed mine with no jacks or blocks at all.Drove over rough terrain forklift and held it up with a sling. If you need to block support kinda like Allan did minus the jack.

Good job Allan !! I like the idea of the safety wire from the pole to the muffler too. ~~~LOL
