I drove through the Red Wood Forest, (northern Califormia and Southern Oregon,) very nice drive this time of year.
gosh,,, some of them trees are 10 feet across and 200 to 300 feet high, they must be 1000 to 2000 years old, seems you could build a complete house just with one tree.

I sure can understand that, they are special, and I wonder why they won't grow anywhere else, seems odd we can't plant them in another state.

Man are they BIG,,,, Awesome Tree...

It has to do with the climate and soil of that perticular area. That is one of my favorite places. Went thru in our convertible. Kept having to stop as we could not keep our eyes on the road. Kept looking up..and up!!!

I don't know for sure, But I heard the one that was pictured in our early Geography books with the cars driving through it was lost in one of those fires out there.

They are awesome in size.

You can plant them in other places there are lots of Redwood trees around the country where they have been planted. You can buy a Redwood burl at the different stores in the Redwood country and then after they get growing good you plant them in the yard but not to close to the house as they are fast growers. A little known thing about redwoods is that when you cut one down it sprouts all around the old stump and one to a dozen or more trees come up from it.
I have two Giant Sequoias that I planted on my place here in Oregon I hope to be around when they are full grown. I tell people that I am going to put my mausoleum right between them it should be safe there for many years as the trees slowly grow around it.

Nah. It blew over when the butt rot finally weakened it too much. No cars going thru it when it fell but made a heck of a mess.
