FOUND A TRAILER FRAME 18 FT + TONGUE. I THINK IT MAY HAVE HAD A 18FT CAMPER ON IT. (GAS BOTTLE TRAY ON TONGUE) TWO SQUARE AXELS ,BOTH HAVE BRAKES . THEY ARE DROPDOWN WITH 15 IN TIRES. CAN NOT FIND ANY LOAD INFO. IE 2000 OR 3500 LB . WOULD LIKE TO MOUNT A 16 FT ALUMINUM BOX WITH ROLLUP DOOR. LOAD LIMIT AND APPROX WEIGHT OF BOX WOULD HELP .

How many inches square are the axles? I think the axles with 5 lug 15 inch wheels are probably 3500 pounds. Not familiar with the square axles though.

5 lug does not necessarily mean it is a 3500# axle. A lot of smaller axles also have a 5 lug wheel. The size of the axle and the spindles(round or square) and thickness normally determines the size. Some have the size stamped on the axle itself. Lot of different manfactures with a lot of different specs.

I agree that some lighter axles have 5 lugs, but they don't have 15 inch wheels AFIK. More research needed, but not sure where to start.

If you mean the axle is solid steel, than it should be very strong, easily 3500 pounds. Like the other post said, it should have the capacity stamped on it or a tag on it.

A good indication of carrying capacity can be detairmed by calling bearing distributer with bearing #s. You can also estimate by measuring spring leafs (L & stack)and comparing to new springs on shelf @ your local retail outlet. I would think an eighteen foot T.T. would have min 1750 to max 3500 per axle.

It doesnt happen to be located around livingston tx does it? I'm looking at one there that sounds just like the one you are describing. It has square axles (i'd guess 4" square tubing), owner said they are 6k lb axles with electric brakes on both axles.

I do not know the capacity of the axles under my trailer that is a 20' rated, 17' body travel trailer but the wheels are the same as the AMC Hornet I had, 5 lug 14" and where the Hornet took a 195 75 R 14 tire the camper takes a 205 75 R 14 tire in a standard 4 ply rated. The current camper takes a 205 75 R 15" tire and is a 24' model, mu spare is from the Geo Tracker that I had.

WELL I FOUND VIN#ON THE BOX IT WAS MADE BY SUPERME CORP .8X16, WEIGHT 2456 LBS. TRACTOR IS ABOUT 3000 LBS.5500 ROUGH, TWO 3500LB AXLES SHOULD BE OK.

How much are you paying for yours, the seller wants 300 for this one. It has sat out in a cow pasture for 10 years, and appears to have ag tires on it.

Hi Dennis,

With your AL box mounted and empty, you will most likely be at the maximum trailer GVW without adding your tractor.

RV frames some times incorporate the wall structure as part of the frame load design.

If you choose to not use the AL box, then your frame will most likely be undersigned for the amount of load weight your wanting too carry.
