Really OT Little sis needs prayer

Little sis has what must be gambling addiction. Soon as she gets very nice retirement check, it is gone and she is asking for money from everybody. She is only 60, in bad health as she is not eating and dropped all medical-says she can't afford it. Is it easy to do this on computer? Don't seem like she goes anywhere. I am closest relative. No husband, kids, nobody. I need information what can be done. I did have a friend whose wife was detained by a casino for over 4 months and they divorced, but I cannot contact him. Thanks for any and all help.

there are hotlines and such that you can call to get her help, there are also programs all around the country to help people with addiction, on the other hand you can try to obtain power of attorney and seize her funds claiming she has gone insane?

Im sorry to hear she has a problem and i hope when her time comes she does not leave you to settle her debt, Good luck and i hope you solve it soon-pat

If she has a credit card, there are off shore places to play poker for money or bet on sports or I guess about anything else. If she doesn't want to share any information with you, it will be hard to find out what is going on until the bill collectors start calling you when they can't find her!

I know of a guy and gal that went through a whole quarter of land before it got slowed down.

prayers for sister, have a friend whose 80 year old aunt has addiction, see her car at 1 of 3 different video parlors at least 3-4 times a week, he says she is going thru her life savings, cant stop her, she is of sound mind, doesnt want to talk about it, says she goes there for small talk and food and just happens to gamble in process, Mark

Sadly at this point of life these compulsive gamblers are going for the big one.

In their mind they are going to win big for the family to enjoy .

I have a step daughter [35 yr old ] that is now doing the same.

Don't want to, and won't join a support group.
She thinks nothing is wrong with her lifestyle.

She works at two different places to support her habit.

Wont listen to reason, she comes back once in a while to show me a winner of maybe $500.00, but don't want to talk about the $1000.00s she lost .

slot machines are the big thing around overseas Military communities. You see the same folks opening and closing facilities that have machines and wipe out paycheck after paycheck in nickle and quarter machines.
It's a sickness...
Groups available but you have to get them to admit to a problem before it does any good.

Like any addiction, the first step is to get the person to understand they have a problem. Then be ready with sources of help.

You don't have to leave the house to gamble. If you have a computer and a credit card, you can loose your shirt and never leave the room.

So sorry for you and her. Pray that the Lord will open her eyes before she has lost everything.

if she's doing this on line. check if her internet provider can block the web site's. i don't know if is possable. i know they do it at work all the time here. best of luck david
