JD 350 c loader

I swatted at a fly while attending an auction and bought a JD350c crawler loader. The price was right ($2500) but after I got it home I found two glaring problems.

First when I back it up, there is a loud clanging sound as if it is straining and possibly had a broken tooth.

Secondly, the gears only go in 1 and 3, it won’t go into 2 and 4.

Is this thing worth fixing or should I take it to a scrap yard?

IMHO the "C" model is the most valueable of the series. The older models had "dry" steering clutches, and had problems, if not well used.
The "C" models have "wet", running in oil, clutches. A much better set-up. A diesel engine, and the wet clutches, can be idle for a long time, and not be affected.

I had a 355D which is a later model with a bigger engine. There are used parts available. Probably a simple fix for the shifter. Mine wouldn't go in third. Something was wrong with the detent ball or something like that. It was a while ago. Dave
