How much would it run to rent a Deere say 100 hp or so tractor per hour? Trying to compare whether to buy or rent. Looking at a real nice 4430 listed for 13,500. Thanks Guys

Do yourself a favor and if you are going to actually use it more than once, buy a tractor. The 30 series and 40 series Deeres are a sound investment. They will not decrease in value any.

Sometimes it makes sense to rent, like when your tractor broke down and you have to get done, or you have a one time need to do a task your not really set up for. Last year I rented used 140 hp tractor from the local dealer, can't remember what I paid but at the time it seemed like a bargin, perhaps $200 a day.

Some farm equipment guides that contain new & used prices of farm equipment show rental amounts in the back of the book. One such book is published by National Farm Power Equip Assn.

If you have a need for a bigger tractor I'd buy it unless you only need it one time a year.

We occasionally rent a IH 986 from a small barn equipment dealer (mixers, silo unloaders, manure handleing equip.) that they have for demoing their mixers. I think we only pay $15/hout, but that's an exceptional rate. If we went to the closest tractor dealer, we'd have to pay atleast $20/hour for the same size, if not $25.
