gasket sealant?

I've been putting together the back of my JD 420 standard and ordered a new gasket for the rear transmission cover. It is a plastic type gasket and not a cork type that I am used to. I think the brand name is "interface" but not sure. On these plastic type gaskets do you use a sealer like indian head on them before installing or do you just line them up with the holes and put them on dry? The old one looked like similar material and didn't appear to have any sealer or glue.
Thanks
Joel

ssgshelton: by "plastic type" do you mean it has an inner edge that is a plastic material with the rest of the gasket being composed of a fiber gasket material? If so, you should not use any other type of sealer as the "plastic" (actually an engineered polymer) does the sealing.
