NH Hayliner 69??

Just found a hayliner 69 also. Only one pic so far but it is supposed to be in real good shape and used with no problems last year. Is this just a newer/better version of the 268 (bigger/smaller). It is supposed to be a 1975 model and the 268 a 1968. Price advertised was 750 bucks but the person emailed me 400 (268 is 900) because they need to clear out the building it is in. Supposed to get back with the guy next week.
Of the 2, should I be choosy or are they each just as good as the other?

Thanks,

Dave

The Hayliner 69 preceeded the model 268 and is very old. If you are serious about making hay, I would stay away form the 69 and it's seller. I personally had a 69 in the early 60's and it was not new even then.

I"ve always thought that the 69 and other two digit models were made in the 50s, early 60s, and the 268 came out about 1965- mine was a 65 or 66. 273 came out in the 70s with the Super Sweep pickup- bigger numbers came later.Sold my 268 (converted to 269 hitch) for $600, with thrower and newer belts.

Its a good baler, its actually pretty much the same as a a 268,lots of the same parts and such, but the 268 is a lot newer. I used a 68 and a 69 for many years before they died and I got a freebie 270(also seems the same as the 68,69) be warned though that if I recall right the 69 has a really short tongue on it. 400 is a good deal, at least it would be in my area. just my opinions,,Jim

Got a Model 68 wire tie made in 50's. Rebuilt it. Baled 3000 bles of Alfalfa this year. Just cannot push it. Pull it with a restored JD model 50. Plunger runs on Oak slides. Keep them greased heavy.

Wait for a good 273 or 275. They are tough enough to deal with, but parts and manuals are available.
