Charlyn Power Steering

I have a Charlyn power steering unit on my Super MD that I am putting back together and need to know what fluid goes in it. Is it regular power steering fluid or ATF? Thanks.

The Charlyn on my Super M has been operating successfully operating with hydraulic fluid for 45+ years (it's fed from a flow divider off the live pump).

For practical purposes power steering fluid is the same as hydraulic fluid and should work fine.

ATF should work OK too - it's essentially light hydraulic oil with friction modifiers and red dye added.
