Hey guys need to find the best place to get a 370 ford truck motor. Tried one from Jasper went 2300 miles threw rod out the block was over the 18month warranty tried to explain that the truck was a grain truck that sat 10 months out of the year and had only been in service 4months but it was sorry Charlie to we won't be back any help you can give us thank you.

Wouldn't take a Jasper if you gave it to me. Had to put a tranmission in my 2000 GMC 2500 extended cab long bed 4x4 with a 6.5L diesel, tranmission started slipping right outta the gate. Took it back and they "ADJUSTED" it but it's still garbage at a cost of $2300. Had real good luck outta a motor I got from Pep Boys when my dad worked there, but can't for the life of me remember who rebuilt it.

I have a 81 F-700 sitting out back thats got the 370 and a heavy 5 speed, 2 speed rear end.

370, setup to run LP. Had around 50K on it. It was a sprayer truck, has large rear floatation tires on the back with a lime spreader bed on it now,,, ran good, distributor came up missing,,, but hood has always been down, air cleaner still on it. Its got rear floatation tires on it, 2 speed rear end. PTO, would be alot of good parts. LP engines burned clean,,,,,

$750 as is,,, has a fertilizer bed that would make good parts for one that needs fixing up, gear boxes and such, 500 without rear tires. Should run, if it turns over it will run. Still had antifreeze in it,,,, bout,,, 3 years ago,, wasnt stuck then when we put it where its at now. truck isnt worth saving,,, but had a good running drive train in it last time I heard it run,,,,,,, bout,,,, 6 years ago. Bought a new Gopher Ford 460 a few years ago and the first problem was that a oil passage was plugged and didn't get any oil to the heads. They anted up a new engine but they had neglected/forgot to install hard valve seats in the cyl. heads. Consequently the engine lasted only a couple thousand miles. They did provide two new heads but I had to pay quite a bit on the additional labor. So the engine is now good but can't justify driving something that gets only 7-8 miles.

NAPA....
At least the 351 windsor we got there... probably the better part of 10 years ago was good.
You don't want to give them the idea that the engine is doing commercial work either... they tend to not like providing warranty on such things...

Find yourself an old race car engine builder. We use Jasper for light trucks and they are not bad. Anything that always pulls a load gets a beefy engine. Cost is double but we have never had to go back......

The best thing to do,seriously,is put a Chevy engine in the truck.I did that and used the Ford transmission.Had to drill 2 holes in the belhousing,2 worked, had to have the input shaft on the transmission lengthened a couple of inches by a machine shop and used a ford clutch disc in the Chevy pressure plate.I think the motor mounts needed some torching and had to fabricate an adapter for the clutch linkage. That was 22 years ago and its still working far as I know.I put a 350 Chevy motor in one truck and a 427 in another truck for the same man.On the 427 I used the Chevy transmission and had a driveshaft made that hooked to the Chevy transmission and the Ford rear end. Both times I used adapters and put the Ford sending units for oil and water temp and made an adapter for the clutch linkage. The Moter mounts worked somehow, but I cant remember exactly what it took,Ford motor mounts or Chevy motor mounts on the engines.I think I put Ford motor mounts on the Chevy engine.Hooked the radiator up with pieces of pipe and on one of them the hoses worked, but the radiator had the outlet on the other side so I took it to a radaitor shop and had it moved to the other side, needed fixed anyway. That was after blowing the second 370 the same season. It took a while on the one I had the machine shop make the input shaft, but the other one took about 3 days.

The 429 and 460 are the same basic engine. The 370 is just smaller displacement.
Price one from a large Ford dealer. A Ford Authorized Reman would likely have the best warranty.
