Tractor Paint Job Price

I have a fellow wanting me to paint a John Deere 70 the sheet metal is perfect so basically no body work needs to be done, Its a pretty clean tractor no oil leaks he just wants it to be sanded down and painted, i dont know what a fair price would be im not lookin to get rich but dont wanna waste my time, any idea's on a price

You buying the paint or is he? I have friends that do ag repair and painting for a living. $1200.00 will barely cover painting a 4020 or 1066. They turn work away!

I have never painted a tractor/car/truck before But I will say this, If this guy trusts you with his JD 70 then go for it.
Figure in total time to do it.....Removing body panels, sanding, taping off stuff, etc. Then estimate the total time to do all the work. If it is 20 hours total then tell him $500. If it is 30 hours then $800 or a little more. You will need to work out who will pay for the material.

I paid $800 15 years ago. That was about 200 for paint. The rest labor. A goos paint job ain't cheap. Make sure you agree on everything first.

If you want to do more of them you better charge what it takes to do an excellent job. If you don't then charge what it takes to just blow some paint on it. Have a friend that does it for a living and he can't keep up with requests. He takes them down to the metal.

I would do it for 40.00 hr. but I do not want to see a check and no receipt, cash only.If you want a receipt it will be 60.00hr.
