coil truck springs

Remember the pre 1973 chevy/GM pick-ups, with coil springs in the back, instead of leaf springs. One of my customers just bought a 2009 half ton Dodge. It has coil springs in the back, not leaf springs. Never thought I'd see that again.

hows the suspension on the dodge set up? does it have trailing arms like the old chevy? those old chevys sure rode nice but a load on them sure sent the bumper at the ground in a hurry

I have a '63 Chevy pu w/coil springs. Right,it rides good, but put anything in the bed and instantly, you have that "hollywood" look. Thought that I would never run across that idea again.

I once had a '60 Chevy 1/2 ton with coils in the rear and torsion bars in front. You could go over railroad tracks without even feeling them. But, as others said, I did wind up putting overload springs on the rear.

I drove one thinking I needed to trade my 2001 1/2 ton Dodge. The new one was all over a rough main highway. Cannot see over/down the hood. Had 20" tires.

My old truck felt like a greyhound (bus) compared.

Also drove a new 3/4 ton the same day. It rode better than the 1/2 ton.

All were 4wd extended cab.

Dodge can't possibly change anything to make thier pickups any uglier, so they have now switched to making them as useless as they possibly can

I had one too, traded a car to a cousin for it and a handful of cash.

The shocks on mine were worn out so I can't say that I didn't feel rr tracks, etc. It did serve me well though for a farm fuel truck for several years.
