case 1537 uniloader hydraulic problem

the hydraulics quit today, any advice to fix would be appreaciated. could the pump just quit pumping all of a sudden? no leaks, the fluid level is okay, engine runs.thanks

I believe that has the same pump drive gear box as the 1737, fairly common for the splines to wear out in the gear box shaft that drives the attached hyd pump. Remove the pump from the gear box to check. Had that fail several times on our 1740 (1737 with a diesel engine) skid loader. Those gear box shafts are getting very hard to find, fortunatly a good machine shop can make one fairly cheaply.

I second wearing out the splines. But on the 1537 the spline shaft sticks out of the gearbox and the splines wear out on the inside of another shaft that attaches to the gearbox. $300 shaft last time we replaced one. We own a metal lathe but don't know how we'd carve one out so don't even know if a machine shop could remedy it.
