massey harris 44 6

i just got this tractor running and was filling the radiator and had water coming out the carb is this a cracked head or just a head gasket i checked the oil and had no water on the dip stick also where could i find these parts thanks

the 44 6 has a cont f226 engine. I have most parts. probly has warped head. This is the same engine as the Frazer car.
This has less power than the 44 4cyl

I have wondered why they made the six. I ran a four cykinder and it was some tractor in its day.Was the six extremely thirsty?

tHE 44-6 WAS MADE RIGHT ABOUT WAR TIME WHEN THEY COULD NOT GET ENOUGH 4 CYL ENGINES. TON,T SPEN A BUNCH OF MONEY ON THE THING THEY ARE ABOUT WORTHLESS WHEN COMPARED TO THE 4 CYL. THE 4 HAS LONG STROKE AND LUGGING POWER. ONCE THE 6 LOSES ANY REVE IT PRETTY MUCH IS OVER. ASK ME WHY I KNOW? 20 YEAR AGO WHEN ANTIQUE PULLING TOOK OFF I THOUGHT I WOULD BE SMART AND BUILD A 6 CY 44 AFTER SPENDING A COUPLE OF GRAND FOUND OUT RIGHT QUICK THE 4 CYL WAS THE WAY TO GO..

There was a big demand for the 6 Cyl.in some parts of the Country at that time.It was made 1947-1951 and some (few)dealers sold more 6s then 4s.I still have 2 1947 44-6s and back when we were still using them hard they would use 2/3 to 3/4 the fuel the 4s did and now on grain augers 1/2 or less.
