Deere 800 swather draper problem

I'm still having troubles with the drapers trying to slide down the rollers. I have new drapers (old ones tore themselves up). I've checked the lower roller bearings, ok. The lower roll tensioners are at their widest setting. The upper roll tensioners at just tight enought for the drapes to work.
It is my understanding that the drapes will ride towards the narrowest part of the rollers (top or bottom wichever is narrowest). Today a guy told be that the opposite is true with drapers/belts, that while rotating they will actually work towards the widest part????
Anyone got any input. If I can get this working I can pick up another 16 acres on shares this week.

The upper and lower ends of BOTH the inner and outer rollers can be adjusted in or out.

Experiment a little to see what adjustment makes the canvasses do what you want.

Been there, done that, with an 800, but it"s been a while and I can"t advise you which adjustment to try first, but you WILL figure it out, once you muck around with both ends of BOTH rollers.

The top and the bottom of the idle roller have to move equally in order to tighten the canvas properly. Did somebody break the cable and/or spring off the bottom slider?
Those bottom slides are a normal service item to clean and lube. However most operators can't seem to read the manual. So over the years the slides freeze with rust. And about 1/3 of the bearings miss getting lubricated.

The canvas will move towards the widest point on the rolls, not the narrowest! Set both end equidistance and parrallel to start and then fine tune, remembering that the draper will "climb" towards the tighter side.
