Chevy 4L60E transmission

I pulled the pan off the transmission on the 1994
C1500 to change the filter and the fluid and I
noticed that there are two wires connected to a
connector hanging down in the pan. I couldn't figure
out where it connects. Is this supposed to just be
hanging down in the oil?

are they connected to a gray plug? it should be the temp sensor. they are normaly wired tied to the harness. if all the seloinds have their connectors it is ok to hand down in the pan.
