got about 2 acres of 60 to 100 year ols sod to plow up - maybe a buried model a frame in there also -
we sold our little plows -
I have a MFWD 75hp tractor - White - can I pull a 5 bottom IH plow to do that much - 3 point on the big tractor not operational yet

We had a six and pulled it with a souped up MF 1130. When that went out for repairs we used the 4020 but it had its hands full. I guess it depends on the soil but I'd think you are a little light , especially in well established sod.

Why do you want to plow it? In this area if you are bringing ground out of sod (government ground) they usually spray with roundup and then plant soybeans with a no-till drill. The next year it will be much easier to plant.

I guess that depends on whether you're talking about 5 12's or 5 20's....

Honestly, in that kind of mess I'd want an 18" or 20" bottom and plow it 10-12" deep. IN that situation you're not going to pull a 5 with that tractor unless you go dreadfullslow and have about 1 ton of cast on the front to hold her down. You can try it, but I doubt it will be very successfull. You might be dropping 1 or 2 bottoms off to get that done.
If you hit it hard with roundup and wait until it browns off you've probably got a good shot at it then...

I don't know your soil, plow, or your tractor. I do know that a few years ago I broke a small strip of red ground that had been good sod and grazed for about 20 years in West KY. I have a ford 6700 that's turned up a little and a 3X16 John Deere 3pt Plow. As long as I didn't get over 5 or 6" deep I could pull it, just had to steer with the brakes. I needed more than the 400lbs on the front than I have. Front tires were off the ground alot more than they were on it.

I chisled fertilizer in later and I could only take about 4' of an 8' plow at a time to get it down a foot.

Good luck.

Sure you can if you want to destroy that tractor.I know you have front wheel drive but, that is still way too much plow. The drive train on your tractor won't like that much load.No need to overheat the engine and tranny.I would drop a bottom or even find a 3 bottom plow and sock it in ground 10 inches or deeper.
