faded paint

Have machinery with sun faded paint. Years ago I saw an ad in a farm magazine of a JD combine with before and after pictures of faded and sparkling paint after applying some product . Dont recall what that was . Does anybody remember and does anybody know of current products that can do the job.

depends on if you want to cover or cure..... Don't waste time with the colorcote stuff. Best and cheapest thing I found was called "scratch out" at about 2 bucks a bottle. Get rid of the dead paint and give it a good waxing (johnson's paste wax works real good or a plain ole turtle wax). You'll like what you see.

Nothing beats a good amount of 3M medium/fine coarse buffing compound. It's what autobody shops use. Squirt it on and use a buffing wheel till it removes the dullness. Be careful and don't let it eat through the paint.

I have used this on several faded cars. It improves the shine about 300%. Don't be confused, nothing will make it shine like new paint.

I had a pickup that had sat under a tree for a couple years to add to the oxidation headache. The scratch out stuff did OK (just a KIT Wax version of the 3M stuff) but ran out and used some of the wifes dollar store miracle pumice paste junk from the kitchen that worked just as good...

A good (not necessarily expensive) wax afterwards is your money maker.

I went to the auto parts store and bought a gallon of clear, mixed a little hardner with and painted my goose neck trailer that had faded bad. The reason I did it was because I didn't want to loose the pin striping by painting it over with black paint! HTH......Jim in N M
