Flushing Hydraulic Cylinder

I just picked up a used hydraulic cylinder that's been used with Hy Trans fluid. I'm using straight oil in my IH 330 hydraulics that it will be used with.

How do I go about flushing out the old oil and how [i:a735e19f01]clean[/i:a735e19f01] do I have to get it??

The hoses are pretty worn, so I'll replace them, which should make the flushing/cleaning process a little easier.

Thanks for any advice.

With the hoses off, if you pull the ram all the way out and push it all the way back in that will flush 90% of the oil out.

Unless the oil is dirty or wet I wouldn't worry about it,hy-tran is not going to hurt your 330.

Might do it some good.

I second what Gary says. When the hoses are off, extend/retract it by hand and it'll push the oil out. I wouldn't worrry about it unless it had water in it or something was very wrong with the other tractor it was being used on.

The little bit that will be left won't cause any troubles, and even if the cylinder was full, I don't think it'd cause any problems.
