Anyone pulling at Calumet co. fair?

I've always been wanting to give a tractor pull a shot, and I think the one at Calumet County fair would be a good place to get my feet wet.

The weight classes are 6500, 8500, 12500, etc.

Thinking about bringing the 1600 down there. The 1855 is sick right now or I might be tempted to bring that one down, but I don't think it's be very competitive for the wieght class (would have to be in 16,000 class and it weighs in around 14,000).

The 1600 weighs in around 7500, so I'd still be light but it still seems to pull like a sunuvabitch around the farm. Has an overbore kit in it (makes it close to the 1650/55's) but that's it. Still farm with it so I'd probably show up with mud on the tires still.

When is the pull? I would be light in the 6500 LB class with my MD but maybe would take a ride down and cheer you on. If I remember correctly the fairgrounds are in Chilton?

Looks like it's on Saturday night this year. My wife and I ussually go on Sunday and watch the speed show, and I would sneek off to the tractor pulls. Looks like this year it's been moved around a little bit.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna or not, but for a $20 entry fee I'm tempted. Would be nice if I could trailer the 1600, it'd take me 1 1/2 hours to drive the 20 or so miles to the fairgrounds. Then I'd have to figure out what gear to pull in... I guess that's more of a experimental thing, and see what the other guys do.

You are correct that the grounds are in Chilton.

It's got a knock in the lower front crankcase area. I almost have the engine ready to come out, just gotta get that durn chain coupler and unbolt the engine. I made up an adapter nut to go from the 9/16 UNF on the head bolt/lifting stud, to a 5/8 UNC lifting eye. Won't be chopping corn for atleast a month yet. It's just been a slow growing season this year. Last year I think we were done with our early corn by early September. The late planted corn we had to let freeze and dry down for a while. This year we matched up our early & late planted corn so they should be ready within days of each other.

I realised a few hours ago that I won't be able to go to the pulls because Mom & Dad are going to a wedding up north so my wife and I are milking cows that night and the next morning while they're gone. I guess maybe next year. We're looking at buying a house farther out that way so maybe next year it won't be such a drive in one day/night.
