converting continental to LP

HAve a SA-200 welder with F-163 continental. Want to convert from gas to LP. What tractor would have used that engine or sim ilar that I could look for parts from? LP carb and reg?

Look for a Clark or Allis-Chalmer (among others) forklift from the late 50-mid 60s. Propane parts for these are readily available.

Best I can come up with is the MF65 at 175ci in gas MH and MF used almost all Contenintal engines. I don't know what F-163 is I'm assuming cubic inches if not Gen/Welder KW would help usually rule of thumb is roughly 75% of hp is it an overhead valve engine? Helps with a time frame. They made a ton of aux power units even forage harvesters and irrigation pumps.

These would be Impco I believe. If you can find the regulator and carb, any good propane supplier will have the rebuild kits on hand or you can get them through a lot of internet sellers.
Check in your area for a forklift seller. Maybe he will have a bunch of junked ones out back.

By the time you locate used parts that might work and you end up rebuilding them you may be better off just going with new parts. That way you will end up with the proper size regulator and mixer for your engine. Impco has a computer controlled regulator that will keep the fuel ratios correct so that will hardly notice any exhaust smell.

Like others said a forklift rebuild shop or old forklifts will have what you need. Most all the newest setups are computerized propane injectors not really like the old carbs.

As a forklift mechanic, the others are right look for an old forklift to scavenge. Impco is the cheapest and easiest. Their lockoff is vacuum operated so no wires need be run and voltage doesn't matter. All it take is one litllevacuum hose to turn your lp on. And their vaporizer is simple and reasonable to repair if need be. They also have a vast array of carbs, up, side and down draft. There used to be a huge forklift junkyard near Chicago called Charnor (sp?)

Off the top of my head, the vaporizer is an LPG-J.it is the same one for everything, that is, it covers many models without adjustment, etc. I will have to look into the exact carb and lockoff #'s but I think the carb is a CA -125. Let me do some research.

Railhead, Are you near Chicago? There is a VERY good dealer in Wauconda, IL, stocks the Impco stuff, I go there for my MM engines, they're near the size of the Continental. Email is open. John

Fuel lock is VFF-30. Repair kit for it is VFF30-3.
