6V battery source?

Looking for a 6v battery, but haven't found a good place to buy one yet. I just started looking for dad, and he's upset by the TSC price of $75.00

Anyone have a better source, or should I tell him to bit the bullet and get the one from TSC?

PS, The last battery he bought for his 2N was 11 years ago

You get what you pay for. A $50.00 battery will be much lighter weight wise than the $75.00 one. That means less lead and plates and poorer quality.

Try to find a dealer that has Deka batteries. Very heavy 6V batteries.

For what it's worth, John Deere also carries 6V batteries. Not sure that it would be cheaper than TSC, it's been a while since I bought one.

Battery prices have been climbing steadily. Just shop by the pound and by the cheapest.

Last year, I was buying 6 volt Trojan T-105s for $52 each. Today, they are $110 each. Also, last year I bought a dozen Deka 220 AH 6 volt batteries though NAPA for $48 each. Now they are $105 each.

I nearly always use O'reilly Auto Parts as I like the store and personnel and prices better than elsewhere.

be sure you buy a group 4 battery for the older ford tractors. the larger batteries won't fit,and are more expensive.

group 4 is a large 6 volt batter..group 1 is the smallest..next larger(by about 1 inch) is a group 2..napaguy

I had about 4 batteries from Sam's-Walmart also, and they were reasonable. They quit warrentying the batteries because I was abusing them(They said) ON advice from another tractor person I bought one at TSC and it has lasted in fine shape for over two years. Cost difference $ 25. I swear they are the same battery but the proof is in the pudding. Henry

I picked two of them up for my Farmall H tractors this spring from Rural King and they were only $55 each.

Dang, I got one at Autozone last fall for 38 bucks. It was the only one size they stock. Thought I was getting ripped. Guess it wasn't so bad afterall.

yep.. seems some places change manufacturers alot.. I had one tsc battery that dies in 2 ys..had one interstate that died in a year.. then had 2 from the same that went 4ys!!

Thanks guys!
I stopped at TSC and talked to the counterman I've always delt with. He told me that batteries have jumped up a lot more the last couple years, but $75 for the 6V isn't that bad, since there is a $10 core for the old battery. That brings the total price to $65, and that should make dad happier.
