Sittin on the seat of the broken down Case in my shop (the tractor connection) reviewing my life....where did the Spudnut shops go? And can't find any double chocolate Donut Land Donuts either.
Leonard

The midway at our Saskatoon Exhibition had a booth that sold spudnuts. Don't know where they came from or where they went.

The spudnut shop in plainview texas just closed after about 50 years.Owner was tired of getting up at 1 oclock am to start makeing them.

Does sittin' on the seat of a broken Case help? I've spent the better part of the summer attempting to bring one back to life. I'm tempted to have a priest or rabbi over to drive the devil spirits out. Today I was filling with coolant and going to test fire when the water pump started weeping. I wanted to weep too but swearing seemed to feel better. Maybe I'll get some donuts and just set up there and see how it feels.

No big deal to put in a new water pump cause I can see it, right? Just take the fan off, right? Down to taking the radiator off, so might as well have that 56 year old thing fixed too. I allot about 15 minutes a month so its gonna take some time! You would think a 56 year old tractor that ran ok when I put it away 5 years ago wouldn't "just spring a leak". I need a donut or two, coffee, no cream. Leonard

Do you mean just a 15 nin. job had to take whole front end of nine to change water pump. also got price shock too was over $200 with gaskets. 1715 NH. Good Luck on water pump change.

Leo;
Before you change the water pump on that 56 year old Case, try greasing the fittings on the pump. You don't say what model Case it is, but many of these Cases usd a grease pressure seal and after 5 years, the grease has dried out and allowed the seal to relax... Gene

This is a 53 SC and there was no grease zerk on the pump. I sure would have jumped at that! One of my instruction books said "remove the fan"---I couldn't even get my fingers between the fan and core, let alone a wrench! I think I stripped the threads on two bolts down in the front casting without getting the radiator support off. Then Don L. advised me that several little capscrews on the front of the radiator are the ones holding it! I have immense respect for the folks on this site who restore/fix old tractors...what a chore. Leonard

They are still there every year. The booth is run by a local group.
