Funk power reversing clutch transmission

We have a NAA with a Funk reversing clutch/transmission in it. Step part way down on the clutch and you can shift, press all the way down and you back up in what ever gear you are in. Anyone heard of this or know about it? parts anywhere?

I"ve never heard of a Sherman unit that reverses with the clutch. I"ve worked on Ford 600 based forklifts with the Sherman F/R shuttle unit and they were completely lever controlled. I would be interested in knowing more about this unit. Is there Funk identification on it?

Back in the '70's , We had a bunch of Lion Liftall const. forklifts, built in Sparks , Nv. with a Funk auto reverse trans.I still remember the side of it said "Funk Mfg . Coffeeville Kansas" It had a regular warner 4 speed like an old ford truck . the reverser had two pedals marked "F" and "R" . I think Massey did that for a while. After a couple years , we changed them out for stick shift components and the old warner L2 box to reverse it, because with the mast in the air ,the forklift was too unstable with the sudden unfeathered direction change.

I had a Lull bricklift from back in the 50's....AC powered with a Funk power reverseing shuttle shift and a 4 speed transmission..

You might try your local John Deere dealer...
Tractordata has a story on the Funk-Ford engine conversions that doesn't mention the reverser-clutch setup, but it must be the same outfit.
Piece says Funk Mfg sold to Gardner-Denver, then to Cooper Industries, and finally to John Deere...

It's a different Funk than the engine conversions done on 8n's, etc. The Massey Ferguson instant reverse transmissions that were used for years, on many machines, were built by Funk. They used a seperate pedal for forward and reverse. Sounds like yours is similar but uses only 1 pedal. Dave

AC made a reverser for theyre industrial version tractors. It was basically a 4 speed tractor with a reverser so you had 4 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds. If you put the gear shifter in 4th and put the lever in reverse you would have a fast reverse. This made it quick in industrial versions as you just pulled the reverser instead of reshifting from 1,2,3,4, to reverse. It also gave reverse more speeds for quicker operation. Sound like what you got?

Sorry: Funk did make transmissions: Oliver industrial tractors had them as an option and they used a torque converter coupled to the reversing unit

Funk certainly did make transmissions in Coffeyville Kansas. I live there. I was friends with the grandson of Joe and Howard Funk. Funk first made airplanes during WW2, then they started diversifying into other manufacturing. They made trannies and sold the company to Deere when they retired.
